Principal Traffic Engineer – San Diego, CA
Join a multidisciplinary engineering team leading traffic engineering and planning work throughout Southern California. This full-time, direct-hire opportunity offers technical leadership, client collaboration, mentorship, career development, and potential advancement to ownership.
Responsibilities
• Lead traffic engineering design teams and supervise designers, planners, CAD drafters, and technicians.
• Manage schedules, budgets, contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work.
• Coordinate with clients, public agencies, and internal project teams.
• Deliver municipal traffic engineering services, traffic signal and control plans, signing and striping plans, Traffic Impact Analyses, and transportation studies.

Qualifications
• BS in Civil Engineering and California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer.
• At least 7 years of traffic engineering/planning experience, or equivalent 12 years in the industry.
• At least 5 years of management experience supervising technical staff.
• Recent Southern California experience; San Diego County experience preferred.
• Strong independent judgment, leadership, and client relationship skills.
• Familiarity with HCS, Vistro, Synchro, California Vehicle Code, MUTCD, and Highway Capacity Manual. Transit planning/design experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
$62.50–$79.25 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, profit sharing, 401(k), life and disability insurance, personal leave, and an alternative work schedule.
